Profit in The Time Of Corona
A year ago when the first lockdowns were enforced, all we hoped for was a vaccine.
A year later this wish became a reality and mass vaccination started taking place across the globe. Many companies are now distributing it, but if you were lucky enough to be born in a wealthy country, then you would be eligible for the two most efficient ones, namely Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Based on clinical trial’s evidence, the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have shown the highest efficacy at around 95 percent.

This being said, it is no coincidence that these two pharmaceutical giants were among businesses that profited the most out of the pandemic.

Pfizer vs Moderna - Who’s winning?

Due to the above, Moderna stocks skyrocket more than 570% over the last 12 months.

The company is currently working on a new vaccine, mRNA-1283, which will serve as a booster dose for people who are already vaccinated. The biotech company could potentially benefit from its COVID-19 vaccine revenue and its successor vaccines for years to come.

On the other hand, the Pfizer vaccine seemed to have outperformed its stock because its shares rose only 15% during the same period. Analysts think that’s most probably due to their other businesses which didn’t meet annual expectations, thus weighing on their stock value.

How does the future look for both their stocks?

number analysis

Pfizer stated that it expects sales of the COVID-19 vaccine to reach $15 billion this year, but the actual number might be higher than $20 billion, as the company has received additional orders since the statement was made. This profit is ultimately split between Pfizer and BioNTech since they are co-producing the vaccine.

Meanwhile, Moderna is heading for a record-breaking year according to analysts, who projected a vaccine sales revenue of $18.4 billion, marking 2021 as the most successful year in the company’s history.

How can you benefit from these companies’ success?

Both companies are thriving at this moment, so decisions shouldn’t be made easily. The band before investing, the bigger picture should be taken into consideration.

Your choice of investment will depend on your trading style and your preferences.
If you're more of an income-oriented investor and looking for a combination of growth & value, then Pfizer could be your first choice since they offer a dividend that currently yields close to 4.4%.

While experts predict a bright future for Moderna, in the short term turn this stock could be quite volatile and it might be a better fit for more aggressive, risk-averse investors.

Times of crisis are always interesting to investors due to the large oscillations that occur in the market and potentially large earnings, so keep your eyes open and enjoy your trades!

So, this may be the ideal time to consider investing in CFDs, a financial instrument that gives you the opportunity to trade stocks, currencies, indices, gold, oil via a regulated broker.
